Hi everyone. My name is Deanna Eiting--The Baker Chic. I have been baking for as long as I could reach the top of the stove and respect the heat of an oven! Yes I had an Easy Bake Oven as a little girl! I come from a long line of accomplished bakers and exceptionally talented artists. You could say my talents are genetic! Now I bring the two worlds of baking and cake design artistry together to design the most elegant, unique, outrageous cakes you can imagine. Your cakes are an integral part of your celebration, whether that be a wedding, anniversary, shower, or birthday and they should properly represent you and your unique life.
I discovered my talent on whim. Taking a few decorating classes with my two daughters for a fun hobby, I quickly discovered that I really enjoyed decorating and became intrigued by sculpting figurines and carving cakes. My family and friends encouraged me to enter some contests to display this talent and lo and behold...I entered the 2012 Spring Home and Garden Show Contest-- and WON! I had only 90 mins to create a one-of-a-kind cake using 4 suprise elements provided by the judges. On-the-fly decorating at its best! What a fun challenge! Creating custom cakes for my clients is a great way for me to express my artistic flair and deliver fantastic designs that go above and beyond normal or average. |
My Winning Cake
So, listening to the radio one day I heard B98.7 announce a decorating contest and the winner would be doing a demonstration at the Spring 2012 Spring and Garden Expo. Hesitantly I entered my burrito cake pic and surprisingly received a personal phone call from Todd, of Todd and Erin from B98.7 saying he thought the burrito was "clever" and "unique". He informed me that I won entry to the contest. I had no idea at this time that it was really a competition where the two of us would go head-to-head and have such a short time to create. Nothing could be made ahead of time except for cake. I made 9 different shapes of cakes so I could have some options. I opted for a little Utah State recognition and made this beehive. During the competition my mixer broke and I had a frosting bag explode!!! None-the-less I prevailed and was delclared the winner!!! I received a Kitchen Aid Mixer (lime green to boot-- my favorite). Worth $450. Not too shabby. |
